I Love Headband Turbans

If you ever loved Carrie Bradshaw's style or watched the Olson's every evolving style then you have already fallen in love with the turban. A simple design yet perfect when you need to just throw it all back to head out the door or add a bit of retro glam to your ensemble.

Plus on the vain side I have been bleaching my hair lately and when my roots get a little crazy its easy to turban my crown until I can get in for some touch ups.

The turban is simple to create as well as come in lots of great patterns and colors.
KsaintP will be adding the Turban Headband to her Spring Collection which will be available for sale so keep a close watch.

"I’m not a big headband person, nor do I like to curl my hair or braid it- I’m basically lazy. But when I found a few turban-style headbands when shopping I fell in love. They’re the perfect accessory for summer, keeping my hair in place without being too girly. What’s best about these headbands is they are very easy to make!

What You Need:

  • Fabric that stretches: spandex, and knits work well
  • Sewing machine or ability to hand-sew (which is easy to learn)

How To:

Cut two strips, 8″ wide by 24″ long. The length varies on how huge your head is but you want the headband to be snug. Your fabric should stretch more one way than the other, make sure it stretches the way that will help you put it over your head.

Sew the strips together (1/4″ seam allowance) so they are half the width. Turn the fabric inside out so you have two tubes of fabric

“Link” the two strips bringing the open/raw edges together. Make sure your seams are showing out at this point.
Sew the four ends of the strips together. Turn inside out so now the seams and seam allowance are inside.

Jazz it Up: Feel free to embellish your headband with studs or beads or whatever you have around the house.

Recycle: Instead of buying fabric, use an old t-shirt with a cool graphic print on it or fun pattern." April 27, 2010 Posted by Kaitlin Simonsen
